My name is Colm Flaherty and I'm a sociologist currently based at the Department of Society, Culture, and Identity at Malmö University. I have previously held a postodctoral position at Roskilde University and received my Ph.D. in Sociology from Lund University in 2022.

My work focuses broadly on the circulation, legitimation and stigmatization of political actions, knowledges, and cultures in democratic settings, examining how everyday interaction creates both political conflict and political possibility. My recent research has focused on the attractions, legitimations, and consequences of right-wing populism. Prior to this, my work investigated the allures, cultures, and effects of stigmatized political groups. My research has appeared in Gender & Society, Mobilization, Social Movement Studies, and Ethnography, amongst other outlets.
